I had a V1 30L Everyday Backpack that I really did use every day for about five years. While packing it for a trip one day, the zipper on one side completely broke. I contacted Peak Design's customer service and sent them photos. They then sent be a V2 bag for free with the color of my choice, no questions asked, and simply told me to recycle my old bag.

There are three handles on the Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L (V2). The two on the sides are functional, nicely padded, and easy to grab—although if you have a taller water bottle or a tripod on the side, you may not be able to take full advantage of the side handle. The main fabric on the backpack is a 400D double-poly coated, DWR-impregnated nylon canvas.

A lot of people use this backpack for work and not just for cameras. It definitely blends in better than some of the other options out there. Perhaps it is (has become) a US-thing, but the optics are quite different from regular photo-dedicated backpacks (with the exception of some Clik Elite). @Fotosean - I imagine the folks shelling out the money for a bag like this also need one of those huge tripods that cost $400 too... Theft is a huge deal in the photo travel world and I for one would never buy a bag that screams "expensive photo gear" like this one.

To prevent this, attach the bottom zipper to the lock. That way, you know that when the other zipper is up top, it means the flap is securely closed. I can’t speak to the new version but the side pockets on my PD EDBP are plenty deep for water bottles. Plus there’s a (removeable) strap for extra security. I'm not sure it's worth upgrading from v1 to v2 but I wanted the 30L size for more flexibility and sold the 20L. I tried their protactic a long time ago and found it pretty nice (though I didn't end up keeping it).

We’ve found the Maglatch is best used on the lowest bar—so if you truly have a full 30 liters worth of stuff, you might want to consider a slightly larger bag. This laptop sleeve can be a little tricky to adjust and the velcro tends to get stuck, but once you set it you can pretty much forget it—unless you get a new laptop. We like that the laptop is suspended in the back, protecting it from unexpected drops of the bag. A bungee-like stretchy key leash also comes with the Everyday Backpack 30L (V2). We have to say, we prefer the V1’s material for this key leash—it was a robust seatbelt-like nylon webbing that felt sturdy. The V2 key leash feels a little, well, cheaper and more like an afterthought since it’s not integrated with the bag at all.

For most people’s everyday needs, 20L is more than enough. For travel, 30L will let you carry enough gear for a short trip while also fitting in most airline carry-on baggage limits. Found on either side of the bag are large expandable side pockets that tuck away nice and snug when they’re not in use.

You can use those colors to organize your bag, keeping a mental note about what’s in which pocket—whether it’s camera batteries, sunglasses, a power bank, or anything else. I also have several of the Peak Designs Camera Straps and they’ve been my go to for 5-6 years now. Every body I have has it’s own and I wouldn’t change for anything. A glance at the archives reveals that since the last time a PD bag, the Travel 45, was covered DPR has reviewed packs from Wotancraft, Wandrd and Langley Alpha. I been using lowepro bags and those dvder are much better and also I like the thinktank.
The downside of having a bag this large is that if you use small lenses, they don't fit snuggly. But in that situation, chances are a 30-liter bag is more than you need. This is a bag that feels more at home in the city than in the wilderness, at least aesthetically speaking. It's a bag that I would take into the office if I had one I needed to go to. And this is all on top of being an extremely effective camera bag.
The flaps on the side open with zippers and provide quick access to the bottom of the main compartment. The flaps themselves have little pockets on the inside and everything is encased in water-resistant material and zippers. The pockets are intended for SD cards, spare batteries, and other photography accessories—but you could fit a ton of little items in here, and they are really easy to access. We’ve used these for earbuds, thumb drives, pens, that sort of stuff. They are also labeled with red or black stitching, which can help with organization.
They constantly live up to the hype and definitely live up to my expectations of what I see as a great product. I’m very happy with the Everyday Backpack V2, and my wife doesn’t seem to mind it either. Between the three 20L Peak Design Everyday Backpack range, there is no wrong choice.
